Meet Just Wondering - Consisting of best friends Jack, Wale and Adam, the hotly-tipped Dublin-based trio have just released their brand new mixtape ‘Float Over‘. Fusing voice notes, laughter and outtakes into the project, it grants us a vibrant, personal insight into the band and finally introduces them to the scene accordingly.
Drawing inspiration from a diverse variety of artists, the project is loaded with soulful yet feel-good pop-electronica sounds and truly a testament to their deep bond and long-lasting friendship. Before ‘Float Over‘, the trio have already gained attention with their debut single ‘Drive‘, and most recently with highly acclaimed ‘Bicycle‘. However, this mixtape proves that they are here to stay - and only just getting started.
We caught up with them for 5 Questions about how they met, the scene in Dublin and more.

EQ: Hey guys! How did you meet and ultimately form Just Wondering?
Jack: Me and Wale were friends in school for years and Wale used to be singing stuff over tunes at house parties so I said he should come down to my gaff and do a few bits. Eventually we met Adam through a friend and started working together, we did one day in the studio and then ended up hangin’ out loads so he ended up just joining the band and writing all our stuff with us.
EQ: Also, how did your artist name come about?
Adam: Jack and Wale’s names start with J and W and the rest was essentially history.
EQ: You’ve recently dropped your new single ‘Bicycles’, I love the vibe and the Dublin-inspired hints. Coming from Dublin, how has the city shaped you musically in any way? I heard the music scene over there is still quite ‘underground’…
Adam: Our band formed pretty close to lockdown starting so we really haven’t had a chance to exist in any kind of “scene” yet which has been weird, but we’ve just been able to spend a lot of time working on what we’re about as a band. And definitely being from Dublin and the way we talk and the way people around here think - the sort of Irish sarcasm - is a big part of our music and something that we really try to bring out in the tunes.
Wale: “What does that mean?”, em, yeah maybe the way I say things.

EQ: So you are releasing ‘Float Over’ very soon - what can you tell us about that? Will the other songs have the same vibe as ‘Bicycle’?
Jack: It’s a mixtape. It’s a bit of a time capsule, features a lot of sounds of our friends, it’s a bit of a snapshot of what our band is about right now
Adam: Yeah for sure, it’s sort of supposed to capture the vibe of what it was like to make the music, and the buzzes that influenced it. Bicycles is a bit of an outlier musically on the mixtape, it’s a mix of all the different stuff we’ve been trying out over the past year
EQ: What else can we expect from you this year?
Everyone: Belters
