BLACK LIVES MATTER
Ways you can support the movement
Faced with the extraordinary nature of two global pandemics simultaneously occuring side by side, here at EQUATE we took some time to reconsider the world around us, and above all, how to put our voices and creative platform to best use.
We’re in the middle of a historic movement, not simply a moment where deconstructing centuries of systemic and structural racism is necessary and a task that needs to be undertaken immediately. With the public murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis at the hands of law enforcement, and the similar death of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Aubery, Tamir Rice, Eric Garner, Treyvon Martin (just to name a few), the black community is exhausted - and rightly so. A hunger for change has been seen, with social mobilisation happening globally; as a result, we are experiencing a long-awaited dialogue, where millions are coming forward willing to learn and listen. As a culturally diverse team of music industry professionals, our awareness of the situation has come from own life experiences. Our consciousness and working methods have always strived to be inclusive and aware as a means to build EQUATE – a platform where discussions can be had, where voices are valorised.
Change is happening, and in the mean time let’s continue to speak out, support organisations and charities out there, to protest and support, and above all, let our voices be heard. See below for a few ways you can help…
