MARTHA HILL - CHANGE
‘Change’ is the new single from Newcastle based singer-songwriter Martha Hill, it is the first track to be revealed off her upcoming EP. Without the restrictions of having to record in the middle of a lockdown, Martha found herself able to experiment with the writing and recording process, playing most of the instruments herself; “I wanted this next one to have more organic sounds in it. To be fair, I got carried away and ended up trying to play trumpet/trombone/shakers/clarinet/bass/guitars… haha”
SHERWYN - OFF YOU
Somewhere at the intersection of David Byrne, Andre 3000, Bootsy Collins and Prince sits superstar in waiting, Sherwyn. Defying any kind of definition of genre, the single and its video signalled the arrival of truly unique, multifaceted talent emerging at the top of his game.
YUNG L - RASTA FT. SEUN KUTI
Following his acclaimed “Yaadman Kingsize” album earlier this year, Nigerian star Yung L drops the brand new visuals to the double A-Side “Rasta” (featuring the legendary Seun Kuti on saxophone) and “Puna” – both featured on the project. Delivering nothing but good vibes, the two tracks provide Afro-Dancehall anthems primed for summer motives and dancing. Yung L thrives in his melodic approach to the genre, and with his sultry baritone grounding the track’s light ambience, this split-track highlights two more bonafide gems.
MILAN RING - BS FT. CHE LINGO
Sydney’s Milan Ring shares her new single and video ‘BS’, featuring London rapper Che Lingo. In a sentiment sure to resonate with fans around the world, Milan Ring says of the track, “Life keeps throwing us BS but how are we going to deal with it?”
LEO BHANJI - RAW
Born in LA in the age of the internet, at just 20 years old Leo Bhanji makes and produces his music and videos from his bedroom in Finsbury Park while his mates are off at uni and art school, and cites a range of influences from the likes of Lou Reed to Green Day to Frank Ocean. Growing up in both LA and London has given him a transatlantic sensibility which clearly leaks into his genreless, boundless sound.
SPILL TAB - ANYBODY ELSE
Of the new track and video, spill tab explains “This song is cheesy as fuck but I love it, it’s pretty straight forward, a little shameless - the lyrics are sort of a way of expressing my love without openly saying I love you. Jade Sadler (the video director) and I just wanted to have a shit ton of fun on this one. We thought about something with narrative or plot and it was just getting to be too corny. I wanted something lighthearted and playful, so we decided we would have all of our homies in this video paired with different colors and angles and set designs. I’m so excited with the way it turned out.”
