i-Files: Lost Girl

'Trust in the process'

In the days since COVID-19 has dominated our screens, and mandatory self-isolation is being enforced globally, things can seem pretty bleak. With the recent announcement from Prime Minister, Boris Johnson effectively placing the UK into a lockdown, all non-essential travel has been restricted, and only urgent outings (including to buy food, medicine and exercise once a day) are permitted. This change – which is set to last for 3 weeks, and then will be reviewed - has been imposed as a way of ensuring social distancing measures used to quell the spread of the outbreak. EQUATE took this time to catch up with our favourite artists and creatives for our ‘Isolation Files’ to see what they are doing to keep their spirits up in this time, and bring some positivity to our readers.

20 year old ‘Lost Girl’ has made a name for herself in the age of the social media generation. After building a strong following on Instagram by uploading cover videos of her favourite songs, months later her cover of Yxng Bane’s ‘Rihanna’ went viral, catapulting her into global stardom. Born in Reading, UK, and raised on a eclectic mix of playlists and YouTube, she started getting to know herself over Frank Ocean, Jhené Aiko and XXXtentacion type beats where she found her niche.

EQ: LG, what are you doing to stay busy right now?

LG: To keep myself from going insane over this quarantine period I’ve been keeping busy by writing songs, making TikToks with my friends and cooking good food.

EQ: What are the top three tracks on your playlist at the moment? Anything in particular you can’t take of repeat?

OJERIME - Code
OJERIME - Turn You Off (Jordan James Remix)
PARTYNEXTDOOR - Split Decision

EQ: What would you recommend we all tune into on Netflix/Amazon Prime?

“Killing Eve” and “Orphan Black”, both on Netflix!

EQ: With so much content out there right now across socials, is there anything that has stood out to you that you can share?

I really like the flip the switch challenge on TikTok at the moment, where people are changing clothes once the bathroom light switch is flipped. I think it’s quite funny.

EQ: What’s a positive mantra that’s getting you through this time?

“Trust in the process”, I believe this is all happening to give the earth a break from humanity. I also think the world was moving too fast and we all needed to slow down bit. I’m using this time to focus on bettering my craft (writing, producing, exercising).

EQ: Where’s the first place you’ll head to when everyone comes out of isolation?

LG: 100% straight back in the studio. Back to recording and sessions, back to the grind. I really hate being isolated like this and not free to make music, but again, trust in the process and it will all fall into place.

EQ: What can we look forward to hearing from you in the later in the year? Any exciting projects we should be looking out for?

LG: I will be dropping another single before summer 20. And definitely an EP before the end of the year. Theres a few bangers produced by my guy Okan on there, along with some production by Shift Key and FloTheProducer.
