L Devine x Thompson: A Photo Story
Photographer Thompson shoots songstress L Devine - a digital age of tour photography admits the COVID-19 crisis
Following the cancellation of her support slot on Fletcher’s tour, L Devine has organised a series of online live performances for her fans. Dubbed the “URL Tour”, she performs on different platforms each night - including Twitter, YouTube, Facebook & Tik Tok.
Keen not to let the Covid-19 outbreak hamper creativity, portrait photographer Thompson has shot behind-the-scenes images at one of her URL concerts. The twist being: he was 15 miles away at the time.
The images were shot entirely over live video chat. Thompson directed L Devine via audio, whilst instructing her team how and where to position the phone camera.
“The creative industries have been hit incredibly hard by the coronavirus outbreak” says Thompson, 25. “And I wanted to shoot these as a statement of creative intent; we can still collaborate effectively in difficult times. L Devine is a great talent and I thank her and her team for being so open to this unusual concept.”

Speaking of the shoot, L Devine stated: “These times give us an opportunity to think outside of the box about how we can still collaborate together remotely. Creativity can continue. I loved working with Thompson in the past and it’s cool we could do something fun together on my URL Tour”.
