Rimon

- How would you describe your sound?
I wouldn’t necessarily put a label on my music, I love to experiment with different styles. Sometimes it’s uplifting, sometimes it’s dark and melancholic and sometimes it’s super mellow.2. You were born in Eritrea but grew up in Amsterdam, how much did this eclectic background influence your music?
Amsterdam introduced me to all its different subcultures, people and music styles. It affected my personality and my outlook on life in general, which resulted in it affecting my music. My home country hasn’t been a direct influence yet on my music, but it was a direct influence on my determination and drive to continue making music and go after my dreams.3. What is the story behind your debut EP ‘bbygirl focu$’? Which song do you connect with the most?
The EP is about my story of falling in love with someone and ending up being hurt by him because he cheated on me multiple times. It’s about a process of falling in love and slowly disappearing into a dark spiral of pain and rage and climbing out of that spiral, acknowledging my self-worth and focusing on my own health and ambitions and inspiring others to do so. The song I connect with most differs every month *laughs*, but I’d say ”dust” for now.4. 2018 has been an incredible year for you. What would you like to achieve in 2019?
I would love to do like a headline tour, connect with the people who relate to my music in real life. Also, I would love to work with artists who inspire me and create stuff with other people more.5. What does success mean to you?
Doing what you love, make a living out of it. Taking care of yourself and loved ones and not letting mental health suffer from anything you do.6. Who are some of your biggest musical inspirations?
Frank Ocean, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, James Blake, Kendrick Lamar amd Joey Badass.
