‘5 Questions With’: Vague Detail
“Individually we’ve both got many memories that we cherish but as a collective, knowing what we’ve done to get here just feels amazing.”

Words & Interview by Antonia Küenzel
EQ: How did you two meet and why did you find that now is the perfect time to release a joint project?
VD: We met about 13 years ago, through mutual friends. I think we’ve both always had a love for music, but we started to work together about 3 years into our friendship. After working on our own projects and creating an individual sound, we felt like now was the time to meet back in the middle and see what we could do collectively, after all these years.
“…things don’t always have to make sense, there doesn’t have to be rules, we can freely create without trying to fit into something.”
EQ: Why the name Vague Detail – what is the background behind that name?
VD: We chose to go with the name Vague Detail because we feel like things don’t always have to make sense, there doesn’t have to be rules, we can freely create without trying to fit into something. How can you be vague but give detail…?
EQ: How long was the creation of this EP in the making, and are you planning on releasing more music together or going back to your solo careers afterwards?
VD: The whole thing probably took about 3 months. We’re actually working on some more music together but we’ve both got plans for solo projects. We’ll see how it goes, then we’ll decide what comes out in what order.
EQ: Both of you had quite exciting journeys so far – what has been your favourite memory so far?
VD: It would have to be the process and getting to this point of releasing it. Individually we’ve both got many memories that we cherish but as a collective, being at this point now and knowing what we’ve done to get here just feels amazing. We feel free.
EQ: Have you got a joint live show planned as well at some point (if and when covid ends)?
VD: Yeah, that’s definitely the goal. We’re just gonna keep working in the meantime though. By the time everything does open up, we might have some more music for the people, who knows.
